Mariä Himmelfahrt church

The church Mariä Himmelfahrt is the main parish church and has played a part in the town’s history since 1400. In 1339 the Gothic church hall was consecrated. Around the same era the Rosenhaimer chapel was also consecrated. A little later the baroque church was finished and consecrated from the sacristy to the Raitenau chapel. In the Raitenau Chapel you will find numerous tombs and gravestones. The altar was finished in 1722. The name of the church comes from the large painting behind the altar predicting the Virgin Mary in Heaven. The main altar and the two side altars are decorated with numerous statues.
